Five more held in connection with the attack on Trombay Police Station


The Trombay Police have arrested five more persons in connection with the attack on police station on Saturday late night.

The mob had allegedly vandalised the police station,charred the police jeep and had pelted stone, injuring at least 15 policemen.

After registering a case of rioting and attempt to murder, so far the police have arrested 29 people including two minors and a MIM corporator Shahnawaj Hussain who is suspected to have instigated the mob.

Outraged over an objectionable post by a man on social media, a mob of 150 people had vandalised a police station in suburban Trombay where he was kept after being arrested. The crowd was demanding that the accused be handed over to them and they set afire police vehicles outside the police station.

“We have arrested more five persons and our probe is on to identify other attackers,”said Shahaji Umap Deputy commissioner of police zone VI Seven persons were arrested yesterday, while 17 of them were held on Sunday immediately after the incident.
