Yogi Adityanath Cabinet: With all eyes on Home and Revenue, UP chief minister likely to allocate portfolios soon

Adityanath will have to decide the allocation of crucial ministries Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development, Water Supplies, Muslim Waqf, Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation, Overall Urban Development Minority Welfare, and Public Works Department.(PTI)

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to allocate portfolios to his council of ministers today. Adityanath, who sworn-in as Uttar Pradesh chief minister on Sunday, is yet to allocate ministries to his 46 ministers. With all eyes on state’s crucial home ministry, Adityanath will have to decide the allocation of crucial ministries Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development, Water Supplies, Muslim Waqf, Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation, Overall Urban Development Minority Welfare, and Public Works Department. It may be possible that the Adityanath, along with deputy chief ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya, will keep many of these key portfolios. Senior Ministers in cabinet – Siddhartha Nath Singh, Shrikant Sharma, Suresh Khanna, Satish Mahana, Satyadeo Pachauri, Surya Pratap Shahi, and Chetan Chauhan are likely to get key portfolios.

Some of the senior leaders in the state, who left their conventional parties to join BJP, are also lileky to get rewarded. Dara Singh Chauhan (BSP), Rita Bahuguna Joshi(Congress), Swami Prasad Maurya (BSP), Brijesh Pathak (BSP), and Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary (BSP) are the leaders who joined BJP just before the elections leaving their parties.

Home Ministry, which is conventionally held by chief minister himself, will be the key portfolio to watch out.There have been speculations that this time Maurya will be given the department. Even if not Home Ministry, Maurya and Sharma will get are likely to get heavy portfolios.
